The Highfather has declared that a champion must emerge that is worthy of becoming the Godslayer. The Godslayer is a being that has been imbued with the power of the Highfather and has the ability to vanquish the other gods of the realms. The hero must be able to complete the trials of the Proving Grounds. They must be able to defeat all of the opponents and collect the artifacts from the different races. When the champion brings the artifacts to the altar of transformation the Highfather will change them into the Godslayer. Designer Notes: I originally started the quest to be the first part of a four part saga. The first part, the Proving Grounds, was to create the 'godslayer' and to create a higher level hero. The subsequent parts (yet to be finished) were to follow the hero through the destruction of the gods of the realms where the player defeats the capital of each of the other races (one race per map/part). I also wanted a quest that showcased most of the creatures/races available in Disciples II. The Proving Grounds contains the vast majority of the creatures/races in the game. This quest was designed to be played by a hero that has completed the Empire saga. It is recommended the hero be of a higher lvl (9-11). The quest has a hero experience level cap of 14. You can play the quest with a new hero (defaulted to level 7) for a more challenging experience. The player starts at the top of the map and will work their way through the map to the bottom. The map has been divided into sections. Once the hero has found the artifacts for a section the door to the next area is opened. The *majority* of the battles are not initated by the player. Most of the battles will occur when the hero enters a predefined zone and an attacker will come out of the fog of war to attack. This was to prevent the player from spellcasting on the opponents prior to combat. I tried to balance each section so the player is able to handle the battles for each region by the time they enter that area. See the file 'GSPGHINT.TXT' for hints and a walkthrough for the map.
